Bayelsa Queens must target positive results in remaining fixtures – Apreala

Bayelsa Queens Chairman Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala says his team will aim for victory in their remaining fixtures in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) this season.

The Prosperity Girls will take on Pacesetters Queens, Ibom Angels, Rivers Angels, Adamawa Queens, Heartland Queens, and Ekiti Queens in their remaining matches this campaign.

Apreala stated that he expects fair officiating in their away games.

“Every team has six games left, whether home or away. We have three at home and three away, just like others,” Pastor Apreala told Bayelsa Queens media.

“We only pray for fair officiating like we had in our home match against Naija Ratels. If that happens, we can get results anywhere”.

“We won’t go into away games looking for draws. Our philosophy is to aim high — if we fall, we fall among the stars.” Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala added.

Bayelsa Queens Must Sustain Momentum After Naija Ratels Win — Whyte

Bayelsa Queens technical adviser Whyte Ogbonda has said it is important for his team to build on the win over Naija Ratels.

The Prosperity Girls are in third position on the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, Group A table following a 5-0 win over Naija Ratels at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Wednesday.

Faith Andy’s own goal in the 25th minute through a Dooshima Tarnum’s free-kick opened the flood-gate of goals as she head the ball into her own post, Delight Isaac made it two-nil in 45+1 minute to end the first half 2-0.

On resumption for the second half, Alaba Olabiyi missed a one-on-one with the goalkeeper of Naija Ratels to have made it three, but her effort was save by the goalkeeper and it was captain for Bayelsa Queens, Vera Samuel that got the third goal in the 50th minutes with a screamer from outside box to make it 3-0 and put the game beyond their opponent.

Kesiena Ojoyovwi made it four as she converted a penalty in the 67th minute and scored her brace in 89 minutes to end the encounter 5-0.

Whyte said their ambition is to secure a Super Six ticket and will take it from there.

“It’s a thing of joy to have scored this number of goals against a strong side like Naija Ratels.

“We were very much aware of the importance of goals as the league edges towards its climax. We spoke about this during our training sessions”.

“With due respect to our opponents, but if we had taken all our chances today, we should have scored up to eight goals.

“I praise my girls for heeding to our game plans.

“Our next game against Pacesetters Queens in Ibadan will be taken seriously knowing what stage of the competition we are in now, and our target is to remain between the top two sides at the end of the season going into the Super Six”, Whyte Ogbonda added.

Ogbonda vows Bayelsa Queens will bounce back

Bayelsa Queens technical adviser, Whyte Ogbonda is staying positive despite his team’s defeat to Edo Queens last week Wednesday.

The Prosperity Girls were defeated 4-1 by Edo Queens in Benin on Wednesday 11 March, 2026.

Chioama Moses and Atume Doosuur were on target as they both scored a brace for Edo Queens, while Ifeanyi Kindness grabbed the only goal for Bayelsa Queens.

Ogbonda promised that his team will bounce back from the defeat.

“We lost, come back to make a few corrections, we just have to continue to encourage the players to express themselves properly before the next game,” Ogbonda told Bayelsa Queens media.

“We are quite optimistic as the season proceeds.”

Bayelsa Queens remain at the top of Group A table with 21 points despite the loss and might drop as the team is on bye this week.

Edo Queens thrash Bayelsa Queens 4-1

Edo Queens took advantage of an error-strewn Bayelsa Queens performance in the Nigeria Women Football League to rack up a 4-1 win in a matchday 10 encounter on Wednesday.

The Prosperity Girls fell 3-0 down inside 13 minutes at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin. Atume Doosuur netted twice for Moses Aduku’s side, with Chioma Moses also scoring a brace.

From the blast of the whistle Edo Queens came all out and attacked Bayelsa Queens and it paid off in 4 minutes, when Atume Doosuur scored and doubled it in the 9th minute.

Striker Chioma Moses made it 3-0 on 13 minutes and 30th minute to end the first half four-nil.

Kindness Ifeanyi pulled one back for Bayelsa Queens in the 75th minute, but it was just only a consolatory goal for the 2025 NWFL Champions.

Despite an improved showing after the break, there was no way back on the day for Bayelsa Queens, who have lost two matches (one against Heartland and now Edo Queens).

Speaking after the match, Coach Whyte Ogbonda of Bayelsa Queens admitted that he was not impressed with the way his team performed.

“I was shocked as to what happened today, the team did not clique in the first half, but came out in the second half, but it was too late as the deed was done in the first Half”, Coach Whyte said.

“For us, the most important thing is to keep believing in what we are capable of doing and keep working hard. We will continue to fight until the end because our objective is to take Bayelsa Queens back to where the club belongs,” Coach Whyte Ogbonda added.

Bayelsa Queens still top Group A with superior goals of +11.
